Media & Testimonials
The world is indeed hungry for the living Word, and maybe as never before in history.
Tolliver selects forty topics prevalent today. Classic religious topics include salvation/being born again, faith in Jesus Christ, the Trinity, Man’s Purpose, and True Freedom.Topics regarding social values include Child Rearing, Divorce, Sexual Morality, Homosexuality, Racism, Abortion, and the Civil Rights Movement. Each topic has a separate section beginning with a guided question. Questions may require a single answer, which consists of a Bible verse (or verses) that serve as commentary. Complex questions are broken down further. A sample question is: “Notwithstanding the issues of women’s rights or ‘right to life,’ what does the Bible have to say about abortion?” All Bible verses are quoted in full and taken from the King James Version.
Thirteen appendices support Tolliver’s conclusions. An interesting example is Appendix 8, Title 89, Social Services Definition of Child Abuse. The author recommends that parents read Section 300.20 and use wisdom in administering correction.
This 578-page book is an excellent resource for someone wanting to attend seminary without having the time or resources to do so.

AUTHOR
Rev. Preston Tolliver Jr.
I have been blessed with a unique Christian upbringing, raised in a sound Christian home and influenced by many godly men. Apart from my father, no one shaped my spiritual life more than the late Rev. Dr. Edward Thomas, Sr., longtime pastor of Greater First Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. Through hundreds of his sermons and the faithful teaching of the church’s Bible instructors, I gained a strong foundation in Biblical doctrine.
By the time I entered Howard University in 1968 to study Electrical Engineering, I was well equipped to defend the Christian faith in discussions with Black Muslims on campus. Although I did not receive my call to preach until age 41, God was already preparing me for ministry. Part of that preparation included time spent in Saudi Arabia, where I engaged in Bible study with fellow believers.
My ministry journey began as an adult Sunday School teacher at Lilydale Progressive Baptist Church in Chicago. I firmly believe that my willingness to teach opened the door to my later calling to preach. Over the years, I have served as a teacher, preacher, pastoral assistant, Bible student, and volunteer pastor in prison ministry for nearly three decades.
Drawing on these decades of service and study, I remain grateful for God’s guidance and look forward to continuing my theological education while sharing the truths of Scripture through my ministry and writing.
